Port Townsend has a reputation for some of the best running trails and events in the Pacific Northwest. The Annual Rhody Run is legendary and our high school cross-country and track teams have been very successful each season. We have many good runners in the area who compete on the regional and national level.
The Annual Rhody Run in May is very popular, both well-supported and a community tradition. Rhody Run is a twelve (12) kilometer run/walk in conjunction with the local Rhododendron Festival. The run has been in existence since 1979 and over 2,000 runners attend each year. The Deer Run on Indian Island is a semi-regular July event. Old Fort Townsend Trail Run is in April and a variety of other races take place through the year.
In-town trail systems, Fort Worden, Fort Flagler and Old Fort Townsend State Parks make creating a fun run every day possible!
