Hood Canal Bridge Detour and Ferry Options

The Hood Canal Bridge will close for construction for about six weeks
when the old east-half floating sections are cut away and the new sections are floated into position, cabled together and anchored into place.

This page is intended to provide alternative routes and options for getting to and from Port Townsend from around the Puget Sound while the bridge is closed. It will be updated regularly as the project gets closer (see Bridge Project Timeline).
The contractor is scheduled to begin work May 1, 2009 and the project is expected to last six weeks; it could be a few days less, or, depending on how construction goes, a few days more.

It needs to be done and once it is, it'll be safer and the bridge should last much longer. We just need to plan ahead to be ready for 2009!
