Public Transportation and Bus Service
Transportation > Bus
and Taxi
Jefferson Transit does a good job of covering most community
transportation opportunities. Buses will
take bicycles.
You can use Google Transit to plan routes.
Who needs a car? The public transportation network increases when
you link other County systems together, all the way to Seattle, and
timed right it's easier than driving (and
more interesting).
Port Angeles (or from Victoria)
to Port Townsend visit the PA to PT page.

Jefferson Transit Authority -
the area's public transportation provider. Fixed route
bus service can deliver you to within a few blocks of most
places in Port Townsend. For service to outlying communities,
routes run frequently to Irondale, Port Hadlock and Chimacum.
Other routes connect with service east to Seattle, south to
Olympia and west to the Pacific Ocean shore.
For route, schedule and service information, please call (360) 385-4777 locally, 800-371-0497 for
out-of-state/West End or visit the Jefferson
Transit web site. Door to door Dial a Ride services are available for people with disabilities.
Visitors to Port Townsend are asked to remember that Port Townsend
predates the automobile, making auto parking limited. Visitors
are encouraged to use the Haines Place Park & Ride (find
the Park & Ride
by turning between McDonalds Restaurant & the Safeway Store
- see
map here). To keep your car parked longer than 24 hours,
just call Jefferson Transit and tell the the make, license
number and give them a phone contact: (360) 385-4777
or Toll Free (800) 371-0497.
Transit buses depart and return to the Park & Ride frequently. The drivers are friendly, the fares are low, public transit is the way to go! |
